Welcome to the Club!

Spraíúil (pronounced spree-ool) means “playful” in Irish. Club Spraíúil is a playful club where kids can gather with friends to be creative together. Each club meeting has a focus on some aspect of Irish culture or folklore, which will then be brought to life through art. Kids can expect that they will be dancing, singing, and creating arts and crafts together.

Club Spraíúil meets three times a year, on one Saturday in Fall, Winter, and Spring from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Barn on Hollywood Farm.

Club Spraíúil members will be planning and hosting two events per year outside of club meetings: “Wrenboy-ing” at Christmastime and the May Day Spring Ceili.

Club Meetings:

Saturday, 4th October 2025

In our October meeting, we will be sharing fairy stories from our Celtic Mythology For Kids book and then the kids will be making crankies together in small groups!  A crankie is a storytelling device.  The kids will draw out their favorite fairy story on a roll of paper, and then share the story with family and friends at the end of the club.

There will be dancing! There will be music! If you play Irish music, bring your instrument!

Saturday, 31st January 2026

January 31st is the eve of St. Brigid’s day.  February first also marks the first day of Imbolc (Spring) in the celtic seasonal calendar.  To celebrate, club members will learn how to be Biddy Boys! Similar to Mummers, Biddy Boys would travel door to door on St. Brigid day, bringing music, dancing, and good luck to their neighbors.  They often travelled with miniature St. Brigid dolls made out of rushes.

Club members will need to dress warmly for this one because we will be hitting the trails at Hollywood farm to visit the sheep and to also pick rushes.  With these rushes we will be making St. Brigid crosses and miniature St. Brigid dolls back at the barn over hot chocolate and snacks.  There will be dancing!  There will be music!

Catherine and Amy have joined
creative forces in dance, music, art, and play
to create a club for kids that’s so much fun, adults want to join too!

Amy brings with her years of work in theater design, painting, opera, and music. Catherine brings with her years of work as an Irish dancer and dance teacher for kids. Together, they create an agenda of fun activities, fueled by their own interests in art and dance.

Come play with us this summer!

Campa Spraíúil is a week-long day camp for kids that promotes Irish folklore, culture, and heritage through music, art, and dance.

Our summer camps are held at The Barn on Hollywood Farm.

Camp directors, Catherine Brice and Amy Healey, have thoughtfully crafted three Summer camps for 2026. We are looking forward to sharing our love for Irish music, dance, art, and culture with kids in Maryland.

Camp hours are 9am-4pm Monday through Friday. The week culminates in a kid-produced concert/event on Friday at 7:30pm for family and friends to enjoy. Our week is spent helping the campers plan, produce, and execute the Friday evening show.

Our camps are geared for kids, age 8-15.
