Becky Hill will be teaching us some basic flatfooting and clogging routines. Workshop participants should have some percussive dance experience and be fluent in shuffles and pitter patters because we are going to jump right into the steps!
A message from Becky: Dancing is a great way to participate in old-time music! In this workshop we will explore the Appalachian percussive dance forms of flatfooting and clogging and it's relationship to string band music. I hope to inspire you to get up and dance at square dance, jam session or in your kitchen. In addition to the basics, we will focus on musicality, improvisation, and what it means to dance the tune.
This will be a fun and engaging workshop. Becky Hill is a very skilled dancer with a lot of knowledge and experience to share. Her dancing is so joyful and smooth! You won’t want to miss this! Dancers of all ages with intermediate+ skill level are welcome to join. Please reach out if you have any questions!
